Cruise Diary Special Edition: Sketchers –Step Up, Gray

Buongiorno!

Glad to be ashore, our first port-of-call was Palma de Mallorca (also Majorica, pronounced my-or-kah). Palma, as it is commonly referred to, is the major city and port of the island Mallorca, and is the capital of the autonomous region of the Balearic Islands of Spain.

Our first stop led us to the pearl factory, Majorica. As it was explained to us, quality control accepts nothing but the best, and any ‘imperfect’ pearl is destroyed immediately discouraging impersonators fro selling imperfections under the Majorica name.

The next stop on the tour was the Cavern of the Dragon. One of the rumors pirates spread about these caves to keep people from entering was that it was inhabited by a dragon. Home to one of the largest underground lakes in the world, Lake Martel, we were entertained by a classical musical concert with the musicians on a row boat.
In the afternoon, with free time to ourselves, we hit the Hard Rock for some souvenirs and shopping for local fares.

To slow down drivers in traffic circles,
sculptures have been utilized...these are the 'Dancers'

Windmills that once were an economic driving force,
serve as reminders of a bygone time

The Cathedral

Palma, reminded me a lot of Sicily…only organized (mi dispiace i miei amici Siciliani)!  And I came up with a plan, before I left:

Part 1:  Meet Johnny Depp.
Part 2:  Convince Johnny to buy or build a villa on Palma.
Part 3:  Offer to live in his Palma residence when he is not using it…it sounds good on paper at least!

Baci a tutti!

Stella  Notte

P.S. I need a yacht to go with the villa!
