Seeing red?  Well you should be!It’s time for the Strawberry festival.

Today my shoes took me to the city of Cassibile (Cas-see-bee-lay) in the Sicilian province of Siracusa.Located 5 miles (8 km) south of Siracusa (Syracuse) city, during the Second World War, Cassibile became famous as the seat of the armistice between Italy and Allied armed forces (also known as Armistice of Cassibile), signed on September 3 and publicly declared on September 8, 1943.*

The Strawberry Festival in Cassibile is running for two weekends this year: April 29^th-May 1^st and May 6^th-May 8^th.If you’re driving, take the Tangizale toward Siracusa.After you have passed the Siracusa exits, continue south towards Gela.The Cassibile exit is about 8 km after Siracusa.At the end of the ramp, turn right and follow the signs to the Festa della Fragola and the ippodromo (horse racing stadium).
