Flashback Friday! Lisa for Donald J Pliner -Barco, Black

Ciao a tutti!

Two words this morning, my fellow Shoe-A-Holics: Biker Chic!  Two words I never thought I'd put together, but now I strongly advocate.  The traditionally functional leather of bikers softened with the the exposed metal studs, straps, buckles and fine leather braiding along the shaft, transform what would be an ordinary biker boot into an extraordinary one; coupled with the leg-lengthening over-the-knee style of these beauties, there is only one thing missing, a motorcycle!

Antia -Gianna, Cognac

Ciao a tutti!

Some years ago, my family studies teacher said something quite profound; in a seemingly ordinary class, he said, "Everyone you meet will remind you of someone you already know."  These words have stuck with me for over 20 years,  and in that time I have met some amazing people and have forged very strong connections to people who have I felt I had known for years, although I only knew them for hours.

My shoes have taken me to some incredible places, and as far away as I am from home, the new places I go somehow remind me of places I have already been; even a city girl like myself, born and raised in a busy metropolis, can become nostalgic at a farm, reminiscing of milking sheep at L'Antica Tenuta Malerba, picking wild asparagus at Azienda Agricola Infantino, strawberry picking in the summer as a child, apple picking in the fall or drinking apple cider in the  farm's general store as we sought refuge from the cold Canadian winter, I have some fantastic memories of being on a farm, and today I created another.

My shoes took me to Ottawa Farms, a family owned and operated establishment for over a century.  And as I watched the joy unfold in my own children as they navigated the corn maze, and the sheer delight they experienced as they discovered (and subsequently fired) the corn cannon, I was taken back to the carefree days as of my own youth as I ran through an apple orchard with my cousin while our parents sat, talked and laughed with the proprietors.

The friendly and genuinely welcoming atmosphere we encountered, made all of us feel at home.  And as the sun set on our extraordinary evening at the farm, and the children pleaded for one last turn thorough the corn maze, we bid adieu to our gracious hosts and promised we would return in the spring for their annual Strawberry Festival.

How I Styled It?
On such a warm day, you know sandals were a must; but with temps sure to drop quickly after sunset, I had to strategically dress, cool enough for the late afternoon (in the mid-70's), and warm enough for the early evening (low 60's).
The skirt I bought at Ross Dress for Less, and the short sleeved turtleneck is Say What? The jacket and belt are both from Old Navy and the back I got from the vendor's market in Pisa, Italy.

Sunday Show Stopper Alert! Bronx -Ba Listick

Attention, Shoe-A-Holics!
We interrupt your regularly scheduled blog for this Shoe-Stopper of a post!

Guaranteed to make everyone around go crazy with envy, my fellow Shoe-A-Holics, if you do not already own a pair of Ba Listick boots from Bronx, you need to run (not walk) to the nearest shoe retailer, and get yourself these boots!

For those of you who snagged these beauties when I tweeted their unbelievably low price of $31 back in October, you already know what a sensation these boots can cause.  Right in line with this season's Brocade trend, these beauties are as sexy as they are sleek; if you are looking for a pair of  boots, which are office appropriate during the day and knock-their-socks-off at night, then these are the boots for you!  You do remember the stir I caused in the red pair!?

Baci a tutti!

How I Styled It?
With such a fun pair of footwear , I wanted  nothing to detract from the beauty of these boots, so I let them dictate what I wore: Black and Brown.  Now this is the second pairing of neutrals I have done in about a week (you will recall I wore grey and brown with my Eelia boots from MIA), and I have to say, this black and brown combination is just as fabulous!  The dress is from Victoria's Secret (3-4 years ago), and the coat is Chadwicks (also in the same time frame).  The scarf, gloves and tights, I bought in Italy.

Sunday Show Stopper Alert! Luichiny -Prince Says

Attention, Shoe-A-Holics!
We interrupt your regularly scheduled blog for this Shoe-Stopper of a post!

Shoe-A-Holics...if you do not already own a platform peep-toe slingback pump, you need to go out and get yourself a pair!  Oooh weee, these are some sexy stems!

You know suede is my luxe fabric of the fall, and on this breezy but not cool morning, it is the perfect fall accessory...and here's why: 1) It's towering heel paired with this high-waisted suede mini, gives this glamazom gams for days, 2) The slingback style is a sexy alternative to a sandal on warm days and additionally, is a non-stuffy alternative to the closed-heel pump, yet it is conservative enough for the office, and 3)  The peep-toe ups the flirty factor and allows me to wear one of the season's hottest colors (oxblood), in a demure way (on my nails)...perfetto!

Naughty Monkey -Clydesdale

Ciao a tutti!

My fellow Shoe-A-Holics, this is one freakin' sexy pair of sandals!  I can't believe that is has taken about three years for these sumptuous stems to grace my feet, but better late than never!

Fresh off my foray into color, I am so loving this oxblood (deep red, burgundy, wine ), which is one of the must have colors for autumn/winter 2012.  The rich red brings such a warmth to any outfit, it is the perfect pairing to the cooling temperatures of fall.

Matched with the must have fabric of the season, brocade, and my oversized tote, the gold in the former and burnished hardware of the latter, mesh well with these sandals, and the gold lurex in the cream colored tank provides contrast and complement to the ensemble.  Undoubtedly one of the most gorgeous pair of sandals I own, it won't be another 3 years before I wear them again!

Monday's Must Have Shoes: Mojo Moxy -Pippa

Ciao a tutti!

With the last weekend of summer officially behind us, and as we countdown to falling leaves, cooler temperatures, woolly socks and oh-so-fabulous boots, I would be remiss if I didn't post one last Must Have shoe for the summer of 2012 (and for any die-hard Shoe-A-Holic).
And here she is...let me introduce you to Pippa, by Mojo Moxy!

Every Shoe-A-Holic needs a pair of over-the-top shoes!  Yes, we all have the smart shoes, and the sexy shoes, and the comfortable shoes, and beach/pool shoes, and the bedroom shoes, and the house shoes, and the yard shoes, and the exercise shoes, and the 'pick-up the kids from school' shoes...but how many of us have a pull-out-all-the-stops, take-no-prisoners, party-'til-you drop shoes?  Exactly!  So what are you waiting for?

Baci a tutti!

Color: Blue
Style: Platform Peep-Toe Pump
Heel: 5 inches (12.7 cm)
Platform: 1.5 inches (3.81 cm)
Material: Leather Upper with contrasting strap and bow at vamp; wrapped platform and heel

How I styled this?
I waited a long time for these beauties.  And with a mix up with the delivery, and after several weeks, I had to start the process all over again!  My biggest dilemma when purchasing them was the color; these sexy stems came in five delicious colors and it was a choice between the yellow-lemon drop color with the pink band and blue bow or these baby blues with the tan band and pink bow!  Being partial to pink, the blue pair won, but what to wear with them?  I needed a dress that could pull off the sassiness of these shoes, and through the power of positive thinking (I believe), the dress found its way to me, one summer morning during my tax-free weekend shopping at Bealls! Dots had just moved, and I got an additional 40% of this gorgeous dress from Nine West!  Am I the only who didn't know they made such fabulous clothes?

Antia -Gianna, Black

Hola amigos!

While in Europe, I had the opportunity to visit Spain; first the island of Palma de Mallorca (pronounced my-orca), the largest of Spain's Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea.  (My blog post during my visit to Palma: Cruise Diary Special Edition: Sketchers –Step Up, Gray, is my second most popular post!)  I concluded after spending the day on the island of less than 500,000 residents, I came to the conclusion that I could easily live there.

But at heart, I am a city girl, which brings me to the second port-of-call on that fabulous Med cruise (minus Naples of course), was in Barcelona.  The second largest city in Spain, after Madrid, this city of 1.6 million people, inundated by cruise ships daily, felt anything but crowded!

With all the quaintness of the Sicilian towns to which I have become accustomed, infused with large piazzas and restaurants with ample dining al fresco, Barcelona was a city I could definitely see myself revisiting, or perhaps dwelling one day.

So, my fellow Shoe-A-Holics, why am I reminiscing about Spain today?  Simple: these Gianna sandals by Antia!  These Spanish beauties I came across recently, and they are so luxurious!  Calf leather upper with leather lining and a leather wrapped wedge.  The cutouts and the dual buckle detail are just icing to this scrumptious piece of eye candy!  Hat's off to the designers at Antia for one fabulous pair of shoes!  These are on my Top 10 Shoe Picks!

Besos!

How I styled it?
I always look to Europe for inspiration.  Europeans often have an eclectic look which translates into effortless style!
Both the hat and scarf I bought in Sicily (the scarf was a euro at the market).  The belt is from Old Navy, the v-neck t-shirt is from the GAP, while Newport News linen boyfriend blazer was thrifted and the denim shorts are from Walmart!  The bag was a find at the leather market in Pisa.  I love mixing jewelry: cuff was 3 euros at the market and the charm bracelet/watch is from Anne Klein.

Monday's Must Have Shoes: ALDO -Tille 19

Ciao a tutti!

Looking for a way to amp up your sex factor? Then a sexy stiletto is a shoe for you!

Now, I'm not just talking about a skinny-heeled shoe which passes itself off as a stiletto, I am talking the real deal; the shoes with stems of solid metal.  And why is this one of my Must Have Shoes not just for the summer of 2012, but as a show piece in your own shoe arsenal?

Stilettos give the optical illusion of longer, slimmer legs, a smaller foot and a greater overall height. They also alter the wearer's posture and gait by flexing the calf muscles and making the bust and buttocks more prominent.*

Now, do you really need anymore reasons to own a pair of stilettos?
