Steve Madden -P-Suzii

Ciao a tutti!

My fellow Shoe-A-Holics, these beauties that grace my feet today, I affectionately refer to as my 'Stand Up & Get Noticed Shoes'.  Every girl needs a head-turning-attention-grabbing-traffic-stopping pair of lust worthy heels that elevate your style, and these definitely fit the bill!
When looking for a pair of 'Stand Up & Get Noticed Shoes', my tips for you are simple:

Find a pair of shoes that you can walk in!  There is nothing un-sexier than a fabulous pair of heels on a person who is struggling to walk in them.  If you need to practice your strut, then do so, in increasingly higher heels, in the privacy of your own home.  Practice walking up and down stairs, on hard and soft surfaces, so that when you head out, you will have mastered your heels, not the other way around.

Get something fun and/or unique!  Everyone has boring, sensible shoes, so why not go for something that is different, calling attention to your gams or that late-season pedi?  These combo peep-toe-maryjane-platform-stilettos instantly turn up the Wow factor. and scream, 'Look at me!'

Baci a tutti!

Merona -Aimee

Ciao a tutti!

My fellow Shoe-A-Holics, I love shoes!  And sometimes, my love for shoes turns into an obsession, and all I can see is acquiring the next pair.  Which, on occasion can be a good thing, but rarely is not; case in point, these Sketcher-look-alikes.
When I bought these, I had already purchased my Step-Up Maryjanes in Brown, Grey and Black; loving the fit and feel of a well made shoe, led me to a pair which was beautiful to gaze upon, but very painful to wear.  So my advice to you, all ye lovers of footwear is: Stick with established brands!

Long gone are the days where you can find a well made pair of shoes from a discount retailer, and often, buying shoes from shoe stores which carry a variety of brands, won't usually guarantee a better quality shoe either.  If you can find a great pair of shoes, and better still, those great shoes at a great price, get them or even a couple of pairs.  People joke about suffering for fashion, but damaging your feet are hardly worth that price!

Baci a tutti!

Two Lips -Clarice

Ciao a tutti!

My fellow Shoe-A-Holics, with temperatures warming, flowers in bloom (well, for some of us at least) and the vernal equinox about a week away, thoughts of spring fill the air; the season for the Earth's rejuvenation brings with it places to go and things to do, but it also brings with it that dreaded question of what to wear?

Transitioning between seasons is always tricky! Temperatures don't always reach their forecasted high, leaving one dressed for the wrong season, and showers can last minutes or hours turning a outing into a wet mess. For what to wear on your feet, is simple if you keep one thing in mind: keep your toes covered!

Boots, woolly socks and synthetic fibers (pressed against your skin all winter long) can take a toll on your feet, and lets face it, most of us don't take time out to get pedicures when no one is going to see our lovely pedis; so by the beginning of spring, feet look pretty rough (believe me, I've seen many who have stepped out in flip-flops already)!

My advice:  As the Earth slowly warms, and the days become longer, take your time ushering in the sandals; with the melting of snow, considering trading in your boots for classic pumps, embellished ballet flats, or a Marjane wedge that will give you a pulled together, season appropriate look.

Baci a tutti!

Nine West: Aroundtown

Ciao a tutti!

Think plain ol' Maryjane gets a funky update and that's what you have my fellow Shoe-A-Holics, with these  Aroundtown by Nine West.  Gone are the days of prim and proper schoolmarm; replaced with sophistication and charm, a modern twist on the traditional Maryjane, these platform, chunky-heeled beauties in a rich suede upper are a must have for any shoe aficionado!

When looking for a Mayjane style of shoe, the main thing to consider is the strap; at varying heights along the vamp, the strap can be found from within inches of the toe box, all the way up to the ankle (as pictured below).  These, like the traditional flat kind worn by the eponymous character in the Buster Brown comic strip, fasten with a buckle and are adjustable, whereas many found lower on the vamp, are merely for decoration.

N.Y.L.A. -Pace, Brown

Buongiorno a tutti!

Sock it to me!  From sky-high wedges to platform clogs, I'm really feeling my grove this week, or should I say, I'm feelin' groovy?  Can you dig it, my fellow cool cats of the 'sole' persuasion?  No jive talking as we keep it hipWe solid?

After a few days of retro styling, I'm ready to enter the time warp back, but you gotta give it up to the era of disco, bell-bottoms and platform shoes...they really had style!  So get down with your bad self as I check you later and catch you on the flip-side...peace out!

Baci a tutti!

How I Styled It?
One of my all-time favorite trends in clothing has got to be the bell-bottom pants; long sleek lines ending in a dramatic flair, I once laughed at a pair my mother had held on to, that was of course until she fashioned a mini skirt for me out of the bell!  This particular pair I'm wearing, I bought at Old Navy last year, which was quite hard to come by after selling out several times.  The turtleneck sweater is Macy's Style&Co, while the jacket is Mossimo from Target (winter 2010-11).  The clutch is from Guess and the scarf era un regalo da mi'amica Brigida...molto grazie, gioia!  Un bacino!  SN

Sunday Show Stopper Alert! N.Y.L.A. -Pace, Black

Attention, Shoe-A-Holics!
We interrupt your regularly scheduled blog for this Shoe-Stopper of a post!

Tall, svelte and sexy; these beauties by N.Y.L.A. will turn up the style knob on any outfit!  Can you handle it?  Step in them, step out in them, then watch onlookers struggle to keep up with your Pace!

Shopping Tip:

Do these beauties look familiar?

They are Mino by Black Rooster
I wore them here...oh, what delicious memories!

Now take a gander at these beauties...
Just as gorgeous, eh? But at a fraction of the price! How???

One of the shopping tips I learned from my style insider 'Mike' (click here to read my first post Welcome to my Arsenal) was that one can find the same style (of shoe or clothing) by different designers, and of course, at different price points.  When shopping for the Black Rooster (BR) version, I found them in an array of colors, but they were quite expensive at Zappos.  I found the N.Y.L.A version only in the black and brown at Amazon.  I splurged on the BR's because I wanted to add a deep rich burgundy color shoes to my arsenal to replace a pair of synthetic boots I wore with the dress (see picture below); but loved the look and feel so much that I went with the less expensive N.Y.L.A shoes in the black and brown!

Reflections in Springtime: Sketchers -Step-Up, Black

Buongiorno a tutti!

Today's reflection is of tomorrow, and the tomorrow that may come and of those that we shall never see; thankful for yesterdays, embracing todays, but none of us are promised tomorrow.  Poet, John Ketas, was well aware of his own mortality and immortality in the same sense, long before his passing at 26 years.  I leave you with the immortal words of Keats and challenge you to create your own legacy....
When I have Fears that I may Cease to Be

When I have fears that I may cease to be
Before my pen has gleaned my teeming brain,
Before high grav'd books, in charact'ry,
Hold like rich garners the full-ripen'd grain;
When I behold, upon the night's starr'd face,
Huge cloudy symbols of a high romance,
And think that I may never live to trace
Their shadows, with the magic hand of chance;
And when I feel, fair creature of an hour,
That I shall never look upon thee more,
Never have relish in the faery power
Of unreflecting love!—then on the shore

Sicily: The Lost Files...My Favorite Places: L'Antica Tenuta Malerba; Two Lips -Alita

Buongiono, Amici (Scorrere verso il basso per la traduzione in italiano)!

Buenos días, Amigos (Desplácese hacia abajo para la traducción en español)!

Bonjour, mes Amis (Faites défiler vers le bas pour la traduction en français)!

Good Morning,  Friends!
I couldn't just post today's blog and not say something special about it...I remember the day like it was yesterday (and yes, I'm feeling a bit homesick again, so bear with me). I lost my father-in-law recently; and where a hiatus would generally lend to one's relaxation, mine was a moment to pause...remember...and reflect.

I paused, to honor the life that was interrupted...remembered the many lives that I had both the honor and privilege of knowing...and reflected on my own life...where I am, where I'm going and where I've been; I am instantly led to L'Antica Tenuta Malerba in Sicily where I have some amazing memories of friends, food and drink -from milking sheep to feeding horses I am moved to tears....because it was home.

My sincere wish for all those who read these words is that when you feel farthest away from everyone and everything you've ever known (literally or figuratively) you are lucky enough to find a place that makes you feel like you've never left home.

Baci a tutti!

Baci a tutti!
