Roman Holiday Special Edition: Wonderfit Slipper

Ciao!

After days of walking…monuments, museums, metro stations…mile after mile (I love walking on vacation…it’s the only bit of exercise I get…plus, it off-sets another of my grand passions…sweet indulgences), my feet are tired!

Growing up in a cold weather climate, slippers in our house were always a must…and handmade slip-ons were often a Christmas gift. Some years ago, my mother bought me a fuchsia pair of ballet flat slippers which I wore out (quite literally)…the non-slip sole transitioned perfectly from carpet to tiled floor, and I travelled everywhere with them. These, suede bottom beauties, I received as a gift from my father to replace the others…I have worn them on airplanes and in hotel rooms, from the Bahamas, to London, Paris and now in Rome…light weight and easy to pack, they slip into carry-on luggage, then onto my tender toot-sies.

Baci a tutti!

Roman Holiday Special Edition: Sketchers –Step Up, Caramel

Ciao!

These shoes are C3= Comfortable + Consistent (-ly dependable) + Cute

Traditionally, I have always shied away from flats…I never thought the ballet style that came into (came back into) vogue a few years ago would be flattering on someone who has feet as big as mine. So in the search for a low and stylish alternative to heels, I bought these (only because they were on sale) and have never been disappointed.

Atop the Duomo at St. Peter's Basillica
True to size and no break-in time, I can wear these from sun up to sun down, mile after mile, and aptly named, (I wore these to climb St. Peter’s Basilica), step after step –330 to be exact, and that doesn’t include the stairs from the entrance to the base of the dome!

Climbing the Duono at St. Peter's Basillica

I have come to love these shoes so much that I own the same pair in three colors…and counting…hopefully St. Peter can hear my prayers for a Navy Blue pair…Amen!

Baci a tutti!

Roman Holiday Special Edition: A.N.A. (A New Approach) –Lucy, Brown

Ciao a tutti!

While stands the Coliseum, Rome shall stand; When falls the Coliseum, Rome shall fall; And when Rome falls – the World
~Lord Byron

Lord Byron obviously wasn’t standing in these boots. There is no time to fall in these $16.99 gems I scored from JC Penney at an end of winter sale last year.

These Lucy boots were in the metro, Coliseum, Roman Forum, and Campidoglio in the morning…Hard Rock CafĂ© for lunch before the Sistine Chapel in the late afternoon…Next Stop Lucy, the sky…with diamonds!

Roman Holiday Special Edition: Naughty Monkey –Need To, Tan

Ciao, Ragazzi!

Have you ever felt the Need To…? In these boots every and any thing is possible!

The first tourist stop on my Roman Holiday was to the Fontana Trevi (Trevi Fountain).

Basking in the sun before the hoards of tourists descended upon the fountain gave us the chance to reflect in the tranquility of the water and enjoy the magnificent sculptures which are ubiquitous throughout Roma.

The details in these stems from Naughty Monkey add up to one sexy pair of boots: 1) the five strap/buckle combination which wraps the heel, 2) the inch high platform, 3) the ruching along the vamp, 4) the cuffed opening and last but not least, 5) the stiletto heel! Trevi Fountain…the Pantheon…Piazza Navona…and all before lunch? Styling!

Note Bene –Rumor has it…
Throwing coins backwards over your shoulder will ensure a return visit to this beautiful city…watch me as I take my turn….I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Roman Holiday Special Edition: Exchange by Charles David –Jovial, Brown

Buongiorno amici!

If you have never been to the Eternal City, or it has been so long that you can’t remember, this Roman Holiday Special Edition is for you. Join me as I storm the capital and bring you Tutte le Mie Scarpe da Roma (All My Shoes from Rome)!

Taking flight was a breeze in these stacked wedge boots from Exchange by Charles David.

These boots I love to wear with skirts or dresses and every time I wear them, I feel exceptionally feminine. My favorite part of the boot (aside from the wedge heel and the rounded toe which is oh, so comfortable), is the detailing. Intricate red-stitching decorate both the vamp and opening of the boot, and brass studs lend to its understated elegance. From the airport to the hotel, then off for a late lunch…in these boots, the Romans aren’t going to know what hit ‘em!

Note Bene –Traveling Tip:
When I travel in the cooler months, space is at a premium.  Low temperatures often dictate bulkier clothing, and if, like me, you travel with only a carry on, you have to learn to pack the right items to give you enough variety, yet keep you weather appropriate.  This ‘vacay’, brown was my base color of choice…from the luggage (carry on not pictured),  boots and shoes (I only brought 4 pairs), to the co-ordinating pants, jackets, vests, scarves and sweaters…mixing and matching was easy, and my zebra stripped purse did double duty as hand luggage!

Baci & Abbracci!
